Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) received a visit from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin Malaysia delegates on 14th March 2023.

Present to receive the delegates was Dr. Haji Awang Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Ahmad, Director of BKISHHB and Haji Muhammad Ibrahim bin Juma’at, Deputy Director of BKISHHB.

The visit by Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin delegates to BKISHHB was to explore the cooperation potential between the two institutions in the field of research and others.

As an institution that preserve and exhibit valuable Islamic heritage treasure and as a center for collection, research, and spread of Islamic knowledge, BKISHHB hoped to become a center of Islamic knowledge excellence that promulgate knowledge culture through academic activities and cooperation with other higher education institutions. 

There were various mushafs collections from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Pakistan, India and many others being exhibited in the gallery.

The mushafs were written in different style of calligraphy among others Kufi, Thuluth, Nasakh, Farisi, Rayhani, Diwani, and Riq’ah. The mushafs were designed with different motives focusing on Islamic art such as Islamic geometry, floral and fauna and very colourful.

Among the interesting mushafs available in the gallery were a mushaf copy belonging to Ahmed Syamsuddin Karahisari; Quranic Stone, a mushaf carved on marbles; 1000 year old mushaf; Hand written mushaf miniatures; Mushaf Alifi Quran; Mushaf Berjilid (in volume).
