Visit by Dr. Nezar Mahmoud Kasem AlSheikh, Acting Director of Dar Al-Siddiq For Sciences, Jeddah

Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) recently received a visit from Dr Nezar Mahmoud Kasem AlSheikh, Acting Director of Dar Al-Siddiq for Sciences, Jeddah.

Dr. Nezar is a researcher on sirah prophet Muhammad ﷺ which focused primarily on his life, history and the places that had connection with the prophet.​

News on the reopening of BKISHHB on 12 December 2022 has attracted Dr Nezar to personally visit and see the Islamic collections. Gallery 3 emphasized on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Gallery 4 showcased Vestiges  companion of the prophet Muhammad ﷺ were among the main attractions of BKISHHB.


The visit was also intended to explore the potential cooperation and collaboration in various fields such as exhibition, conservation, and preservation of collections. Also in the agenda was potential research cooperation  between Dar Al-Siddiq for Sciences, Jeddah and BKISHHB.


Present to receive Dr Nezar arrival was BKISHHB director, Dr Haji Awang Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Ahmad and its deputy director, Haji Muhammad Ibrahim bin Haji Juma’at.


Dr Nezar is an expert in al-Quran, hadith and fiqh. He had done extensive research in various fields and had published 40 books in tafsir, fiqh, falak, sirah, history, geography and others. His latest research was on prophet Muhammad ﷺ pulpit based on sources taken from hadith, prophet Muhammad ﷺ sirah, and historical books. The finding was published in the book titled al-Durr al-Thamin fi Fada’il Mimbar al-Nabi al-Amin ﷺ (Precious gem of the prophet Muhammad ﷺ pulpit). He also made a model of the pulpit according to the actual specification using wood from Athal tree or better known as Tarfa’ mainly found in Madinah Al-Munawarah. The wood was used in the original prophet Muhammad ﷺ pulpit. A small scale replica of the pulpit was also made.


As an institution that maintains, preserve and exhibit Islamic collections as well promoting and disseminating Islamic knowledge through research, BKISHHB always strives to become a center for Islamic knowledge heritage that could enliven knowledge culture through activities pertaining to knowledge for advancement of Islam and its umah.
